At Xperience Humaniti, we believe leadership isn’t defined by age—it’s defined by a willingness to serve.
Our Dominican Republic program is designed primarily for teenagers, giving them the opportunity to grow as leaders, experience a new culture, and work alongside local communities through meaningful service. This year, however, our team has one very special participant who is proving that compassion can begin long before the teenage years.
Before our team departs this August, our Program Director, Vaden, sat down with our youngest ambassador and participant, Luther, to talk about his fundraising journey, why he wanted to be part of the trip, and what helping others means to him.
Stepping Into a Teen Program
Although Luther is younger than our typical participants, he has embraced every opportunity leading up to the trip. From supporting fundraising efforts to learning about the community we’ll be serving, he’s approached the experience with curiosity, excitement, and a genuine desire to help.
His participation is a reminder that while our program is built for teens, the values we hope to inspire—kindness, empathy, leadership, and service—can take root at any age.
Learning Through Fundraising
Preparing for the trip has included more than packing a suitcase. Like every participant, Luther has been working to raise support for the journey.
Through fundraising, he’s learned that making a difference takes commitment, teamwork, and the generosity of a community that believes in investing in young people. Every contribution helps make this experience possible while teaching an important lesson: when people come together with a shared purpose, meaningful change can happen.
Growing Through Service
When Vaden asked Luther why he wanted to join the team, his answer reflected the heart of Xperience Humaniti—he simply wants to help people.
During the trip, our participants won’t just complete projects; they’ll build relationships, learn from local communities, and gain a broader understanding of the world around them. These experiences often leave a lasting impact, shaping how young people view leadership, gratitude, and service long after they return home.
Looking Ahead
We’re incredibly proud of Luther for stepping into a program typically reserved for teens and embracing every opportunity to learn and grow. His enthusiasm has been an encouragement to our entire team and serves as a reminder that leadership begins with a willing heart.
As we prepare to serve in the Dominican Republic, we’re excited to watch all of our participants—teens and our youngest ambassador alike—learn, grow, and discover the impact they can have when they choose to serve others.
